Transboundary River Water Availability to Ravi Riverfront under Changing Climate: A Step towards Sustainable Development

The Indus Water Treaty allocated the water of Ravi River to India, and India constructed Thein Dam on River. This study investigates availability Riverfront for both pre-dam post-dam scenarios augmented with pre-flood, flood, post-flood sub-scenarios. also river low high magnitudes (Flow Duration Curves) its linkages climate change. modified Mann–Kendall, Sen’s slope estimator, Pearson correlation were used investigate flows. It was found that there is a remarkable decrease in by −36% annual mean flows as compared scenario. However, during flood season, it −32% at riverfront upstream (Ravi Syphon Gauge). reduction volume 2.13 Million Acre Feet (MAF) 1.03 MAF maximum mean, respectively, Rabi (Winter) 4.07 2.76 max Kharif (Summer) season. revealed 180–750 cusecs would be available or exceeded 90% 99% time mainly controlled temperature scenario; presently, this stored reservoir.
